Happy Birthday Barbara!

A Community Celebration for 100-year-old Seal Resident

Year 6 children from Seal Primary School were honoured to be able to help make lifelong Seal Resident Barbara’s 100th Birthday a little extra special in spite of the national covid restrictions.

The school was contacted by one of Barbara’s neighbours a few weeks ago asking if the children would like to get involved in celebrating the 100th birthday of a local lady who has been a key part of the Seal community all her life.

Barbara has been a life time resident of Seal and attended Seal Primary School when it was housed in the Victorian building in the centre of the village.  As Barbara is shielding she could not have a party with family and friends, so instead the children made a special extra large card filled with messages and pictures and sang happy birthday to her from a suitable distance!

Head of School Lorraine Butler said “It was a really moving occasion which the children enjoyed and we were proud to be a part of. Barbara has been a part of this community all her life and deserved a special celebration of her 100th birthday. Once the current restrictions are removed we are looking forward to welcoming Barbara to the school to have a look round our new building to see just how different it is from her days!”
