Activity

9:00 – 9:30

Reading – If you are in Read, Write Inc, Oxford Owl have made available the e-books relevant to your RWI level. You will need to create a login first so please visit:

Once you have confirmed your login on your email it will direct you to a page that says “Find a book” Please click on that and then follow the instructions below.

Click on e-books and find your relevant book colour to read. Please read the same book 3 times; this does not all have to be today.

1^st day – read to decode the words and make sure you can read every word in the book.

2^nd day – read the book again and try to read with fluency and expression.

3^rd day – read the book again and answer the comprehension questions at the end.

If you are in guided reading, please read chapter 5 and 6 of George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl and answer the questions in full sentences.  We look forward to reading your answers.

9:30 – 9:45am

Create your own set of flashcards for all your subtraction facts from 20 which you can use to practise your fluency next week.

E.g. 20 – 0 (on the back write the answer)

20-1 (on the back write the answer)

20 – 2 (on the back write the answer)

Keep going until you get to 20-20.

If you have time, start by practising using your flashcards. Shuffle them and time yourself – how quickly can you get them all correct? Write down your time.

L.O. To know how to read the hour hand on a clock (understanding)

SC1 – I can explain the hour hand scale

SC2 – I can explain what the hour hand means

SC3 – I can read the time based on where the hour hand and minute hand is pointing

Please watch today’s video tutorial:

Task – create another hand for your clock on a paper plate or piece of paper and create a video teaching someone how to read the time.

Extension – explain what it means if the hour hand is between two hours.

Further extension (optional) – can you teach someone how to tell the time on a different type of clock for example a digital clock, a sundial or a clock with Roman Numerals? How is it different and how it is similar?

Silent letters

Pick 5 of your spellings and write them in a sentence.

Don’t forget a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end.

For the lesson you will need:

2 pieces of scrap paper

The list of sentences to sort which can be found on the class home page.

Something a little easier:

Print out the sentences (if you can) and sort them into 2 different piles rather than writing them down.

If you don’t have a printer you could discuss them verbally rather than writing them down.

Something a little harder:

Go through a book that you have at home and see if you can find examples of both types of apostrophe and sort the examples you find.

For the last task go through all the examples of incorrect and correct examples of apostrophes and write a reason for each explaining how you know it is correct or incorrect.

Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

It is time to explain your learning on camera!

We will be creating a video to go on Youtube that others can use for home learning, or other educational purposes, to learn about the parts of the body.

Record yourself, or ask an adult to record you, talking about the different parts of your body. You should show what the body parts are called and then when you get to the body part which you are now an expert in, give more detailed information explaining what you have learnt.

Please email this to your teacher with permission for it to be used in the whole class video which will be uploaded to YouTube. If you would prefer for your child not to be featured, please still complete this task so we can see your wonderful knowledge!

Remember: clear, loud voice, eye contact and stand up straight.
