Well done everyone, we've made it to the end of the school week!

Enjoy the tasks I have set for you today and have a fabulously restful weekend. Keep exercingto keep your mind and body healthy (From a safe distance!) - look after yourselves!

9.00 - 9.30

Can you please do 15 minutes of TTRockstars and 15 minutes of Mathletics.

Today is going to be a little different as we are going to be focussing more on guided reading and going back over our fiction writing techniques.

9.30 - 10.00 - Guided Reading (If the link doesn't work, I have attached the text and questions down below for The Wild Robot) 

10.00 - 11.00 - Literacy

LO: To be able to use description to create a picture in the readers head.

For this lesson and we have been focussing on non-fiction, we are going to tread back into fiction and write a story.

The last sentence in chapter 2 finishes with "And then the robot opened her eyes." This is a brilliant opportunity to continue the story.

What do you think is going to happen?

However, there are things I would like you to include. We are recovering things we have already done. I would like you to include:

- Fronted adverbials. Can you include all of place, time and how fronted adverbials (where, when and how)

 - The 5 senses. Remember though if you start them all with I could smell, I could hear it gets really boring. Just tell me what you could hear/smell no need to introduce it.

 - Various sentence lengths. Make sure you have sentences of different lengths, if they are all the same then it does get boring to read.

 - Challenge if you would like to challenge yourself can you include inference. Can you say something without saying it. For example if there were a pack of wolves nearby, you could talk about the sound of padding feet and howling in the air. The fleeting glimpse of low shapes through the trees. See how you do.

11.00 - 11.30 Break

Do something to get some energy out of the children for example Joe Wicks is releasing a work out video every Monday - Friday. Then spend the last 5 minutes getting them calm again. For example is there something they could tidy or draw or sit and read for 5 minutes. It is important they are calm again.

11.30 - 12.15 - Maths

LO: To be able to round decimals to the nearest 1

Now for something a little harder… Rounding can be difficult. However, have a look at the video

It uses a very useful technique we have used in class underlining the number you want to round to and then point to the number you have to look at. If we use the rule 'high 5' five and higher you have to round up.

If this does not work for you then you could always use a number line to help you.

With this we can see that 3.6 round to 4 because it is closer!

Give it a go, use either technique to help you.

12.15 - 1.15 Lunch

1.15 - 2.00 - Science

LO: To be able to identify soundproofing

So we have to run our experiment. Can you get all of your equipment together and make sure we are up to date with yesterday. You should have already done your Title and Hypothesis (prediction).

Now you have to draw your table of results so that you can record your data. It should look like this below. If you are not using a decibel meter you are going to have to be very creative with how you are recording the sound.

I would then like you to run your experiment. Put your sound making device into the box and individually cover the box with your items. Record the amount of sound given off in your table of Results.

Now for the write up.

For this I have set it out below to show you everything we need to include to set out our experiment well.

Title: An experiment to find the best soundproofing item.

Hypothesis: I predict that…

Method: This is where you say exactly what you did. The aim of the method is so that anyone could pick it up and follow what you did exactly. Use fronted adverbials like - first, next, then, after, second, finally.

Table of Results: Insert your table.

Conclusion: This is where you tell me what your results show, we have to talk about what the best soundproofing item was and why. Why do you think it was the best item. Remember to bring it back to sound as vibrations!
