Maths – Multiplication and Division

Lesson 13 – Find a missing number in a division problem

LO: To use the inverse to solve division missing number problems.

SC1. I can explain what inverse means.

SC2. I can rewrite a number sentence.

SC3. I can solve number problems.

Yesterday, we used our knowledge of fact families to help find a missing number in a multiplication problems.  Today, we will use the same knowledge to help find a missing number in a division problem:

In the case of 48 ÷ __ = 12, I need to find a missing number. I will use my knowledge of fact families to help me rewrite the number sentence. So,

48 ÷ __ = 12            becomes

48 ÷ 12 = __            now I can solve (use a method of your choice)

48 ÷ 12 = 4              and complete the division number sentence

48 ÷ 4 = 12              it is good to double check this is correct.

I have put together a video and PowerPoint to help you with your learning today. You will find questions on the Power Point.

Break/Snack Time

LO: To confidently put on a puppet show

SC1) I can use the puppets correctly

SC2) I can use my script effectively

SC3) I can communicate what each character is saying effectively

Let’s do it! It is now time to record your puppet show. Please record this and send me a video via email. Remember to use everything you have learned this week when putting on your puppet show. I am really looking forward to seeing all of your shows – Good luck and enjoy yourselves.

You may need some more time to finish recording your puppet show. Once you have finished, please leave some time to evaluate.

LO: To evaluate a piece of work

SC1) I can watch my puppet show and suggest improvements

SC2) I can watch my puppet show and discuss with somebody what went well

After you have completed and recorded your puppet show, we would like you to watch it back and reflect. Use the following questions to help you:

What went well?

What could be improved?

What would you do differently next time?

What is your biggest success?

Have a look at my example below.
