How are you doing?

I miss you all, but am so delighted with the high standard of work you have been sending each day. I am bursting with pride especially at how well you have taken to the new topic of algebra and your superb writing based on The Giant's Necklace. 

Today you are also going to learn about tectonic plates. Remember to listen to the story at the end of the day and also watch Mrs Smith's well-being video too-it is important that you relax!

Tasks:

  1. Read The Giant’s Necklace by Michael Morpurgo pages 21-24 or listen to the audio version on the class web page
  2. Answer the following questions:
  1. Find a copy one word on page 21 that Cherry is fascinated by what she heard.
  2. What is revealed on page 21?
  3. Give evidence from the text to show how Cherry is feeling. (Page 22)
  4. Explain why there were tears in the man’s eyes. (Page 24)

 

  1. Main task: Turn this part of the story into a script. Please look at the checklist/writing frame first on the web page to help you
  2. Write an evaluative comment linked to the success criteria above

  • Watch the videos again and make notes in your own words-try and use some of the scientific and geographical vocabulary as well. Keep your notes-you will need them next week.
