There are 2 options for guided reading.

You can read a section from our new book and answer the questions that I will

post below. I have recorded a video of me reading the text and asking the

questions but please only use this if you are unable to read the text

If you find the task above too challenging, I have found some books to read.

Have a look through, if you would like help with a level or a book to read a day

then please email me and I will help.

Guided Reading

LO: To be able to understand how to use inference.

SC1: I can identify what inference is.

SC2: I can make inferences based on the information I have read.

SC3: I can justify my inferences with evidence from the text.

  1. Can you infer 3 things that the boys were thinking as they entered the cave? What evidence can you find in the text to support this?

  2. Why do you think most of the boys headed towards the ‘pug-uglies of the dragon world’?

  3. How were the boys feeling after Dogsbreath dropped a Gronckle? What helped you to make this inference?

  4. Can you infer how Fishlegs feels because he does not have a dragon? What evidence can you use to support your inference?

LO: To be able to use appropriate vocabulary to add description. (KNOW)

SC1: I can identify what a character’s speech tells the reader about them.

SC2: I can apply my knowledge of adverbs to describe characters in greater detail.

SC3: I can select ambitious, yet relevant, language choices to add description.

Today we continue our learning around character descriptions by looking at

how dialogue is used to tell the reader more about a character.

I have attached a powerpoint, with audio and examples of my own, talking you

through the process, learning and reminding you of the previous knowledge you

will need to apply. The powerpoint is attached to the documents below along

with a synonym for ‘said’ word mat which you will use. To support your

language choices further, please also refer back to the word mats used

SC2: I can know what symbol mean multiply
SC3: I can partition a number

Good morning Year 4 and welcome to the last Maths lesson for the week. We

are looking at the 3rd and final formal written method. We are still using

relatively easy numbers, but this will change as of Monday next week.

Have a look at the video below and work through the questions at the

bottom of the page as well as the reasoning questions that I have put up for you.

If you struggle there is also a worked example with step by step instructions on

how to solve a question using this formal written method.
