English

To publish your writing.

Now you have written your 2nd draft it is time to copy up your writing in your neatest handwriting for your friends to be able to read it. Make sure you...

  1. Use your neatest handwriting keeping it all the same size.
  2. If you draw any pictures to accompany your story they are drawn in pencil to keep them neat.
  3. Show our character trait of care when writing up your final piece.

We will be giving Butterfly and Dragonfly of the day to the child that shows the best presentation in their work and who we think has shown the most care. They will also get a certificate and 5 happy marks!!

Good luck and we can’t wait to see your amazing writing!

Maths

L.O. To devise a strategy based on my knowledge of time (creating)

SC1: I can add time to a given time

SC2: I can aim to reach a specific time by working out how much I need to add.

SC3: I can work out what must be done to get to a given time before my opponent.

NB – This is a grow lesson designed for children who have become fluent in telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes. If you feel you still need to practise this, please complete more practise by doing the tasks labelled ‘telling the time’ instead of following this lesson.

Your teachers are hopeless at this game! Can you help them learn how to win?

Read the instructions on: https://nrich.maths.org/6071

Have a few turns playing against the computer to see what you have to do and familiarise yourself with the game.

Now stop and think, what can I do to make sure I win?

Write down some ideas. For example, does it matter who starts? Is there a point before we get to 12 o’clock that we know who wins? How? Why?

Now try playing again. You can either play against the computer or another family member.

Keep revising your ideas until you come up with a strategy that actually helps you win the game. Write down your strategy, or video yourself explaining your strategy, and send it to your teacher!
