L.O. To devise a strategy based on my knowledge of time (creating)

SC1: I can add time to a given time

SC2: I can aim to reach a specific time by working out how much I need to add.

SC3: I can work out what must be done to get to a given time before my opponent.

Your teachers are hopeless at this game! Can you help them learn how to win?

Read the instructions on:

Have a few turns playing against the computer to see what you have to do and familiarise yourself with the game.

Now stop and think, what can I do to make sure I win?

Write down some ideas. For example, does it matter who starts? Is there a point before we get to 12 o’clock that we know who wins? How? Why?

Now try playing again. You can either play again the computer or another family member.

Keep revising your ideas until you come up with a strategy that actually helps you win the game. Write down your strategy, or video yourself explaining your strategy, and send it to your teacher!

If you don’t feel ready for the grow stage of learning and would prefer to continue practising telling the time (ie if you are not 100% confident that you can tell the time yet) then please complete the time activities on mathletics. Complete 3 activities if you can.

2020 – Year of change.

Watch the youtube video for challenge 7!

Now you have watched the video you will know that this week our challenge is to make something healthy that we can eat from the food that is already in our cupboards!

So let’s start with the TASC wheel – What do I already know about this?

For this week’s task we are going to learn about 2 things.

  1. Science – The importance of eating the right amounts of different types of food.
  2. English – Writing instructions for our recipe focusing on recapping on our capital letters and full stops.

Please watch the video tutorial -

Task 1 – Complete a mind map on what you already know about healthy nutrition. Have a look at my example below.

Task 2 – Create a mind map with all you can remember about capital letters and full stops. Try and remember the English working wall from our classroom that was behind my desk. It had all the answers on it!

Have a look at my example below.

Please send a copy of both mind maps to your class teacher. We can’t wait to see what you already know about nutrition and what you can remember about your capital letters and full stops!
