LO: To understand headings and subheadings

Mild challenge

  1. Look online at a newspaper or at a newspaper you have at home and look at where the headings are and where the subheadings are.

Either print/cut out the article or write the heading and subheading and tell me what you notice.

  • Where are they on a page?
  • How are they written?

Spicy Challenge

  1. Look online at two different newspapers or at two newspapers you have at home and look at where the headings are and where the subheadings are.

Either print/cut out the articles or write the heading and subheading and tell me what you notice.

  • Where are they on a page?
  • How are they written?
  • Why has the author written them in this way?
  • How do they relate to the article?

Hot Challenge

Research Project

For our research project for the next couple of weeks we are going to be looking at sound: how sound is made, pitch, how to dampen sound and finally finish with an experience for our mini outcome.

For the first activity please find the Activity sheet Home survey, it says school but can you find things around the house that make sounds and record them in your book. There are different ones, please pick out the one that will help you the most.  

 

For the next activity use the sheet you completed can you find why they are making noise and why. 

Where is the noise coming from, why are they making noise? How are you able to hear it?
