LO: To be able to know the features needed to write persuasively (KNOW)

SC1: I can identify rhetorical questions.

SC2: I can use rhetorical questions.

SC3: I can make language choices which appeal to the target audience.

Today we continue to look at language choices which appeal to our target

audience (the Vikings).

You’ll be reminded of rhetorical questions and then identify them, and the

point being made by the writer, in the expert piece.

You’ll then think about the points that you want your audience to think

about at the rhetorical questions you can ask to persuade them. Finally,

you’ll add your rhetorical questions to your writing from the previous lesson.

Below is the link to my tutorial. The PowerPoint will tell you when to watch this.

By the end of the lesson you should’ve

Identified rhetorical questions within the expert piece and identified the point

being made by the writer,

Thought about the points you would like the reader to consider and written

your own rhetorical questions,

Added your rhetorical questions to your writing from last lesson and

Reflected on how effective your rhetorical questions are.

Break time/snack time

11:00 – 11:45

There are 2 options for guided reading, you can continue with the book and the

questions that I will post below or I have found some books to read if you find

this too hard. Have a look through, if you would like help with a level or a book

to read a day then please email me and I will help.

LO: To be able to retrieve key information.

SC1: I can scan the text to find information.

SC2: I can skim-read.

SC3: I can retrieve relevant information from a text.

1. What time of year is this chapter set in?

2. What are dragons supposed to do when they hear the command ‘go’?

3. What does Toothless do when he hears this command?

4. How does Hiccup feel about Toothless’ response? What evidence of this can

you find in the text?

11:45 – 12:45

LO: To be able to show my understanding of the four operations
SC1: I can identify how to use formal written methods in the four operations
SC2: I can identify the operation I need to use
SC3: I can understand how to understand a word problem

For this Maths lesson, we are moving on from division word problems and

moving on to word problems that may use all of the four operations. All of the

questions could either be addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, but

only one.

I have uploaded a video to show you how to work through these. I have also

included a worked example for each of the four operations to help you work

through them if you need them as well.

Good luck

LO: To be able to understand how the Anglo-Saxon rule ended
SC1: I can understand who the vikings and Anglo-Saxons were
SC2: I can identify who the normans were
SC3: I can understand the battle that ended the Anglo Saxons

This lesson we are looking at how the occupation of the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings stopped in Britain in 1066.

Have a look at the website below and the video to help you with your understanding of what happened and the battles that took place.

For this lesson, I would like you to create your own mini Bayeux Tapestry. I would like you to show what happened in the battle of Hastings in drawing form.

I have included the part where Harold gets an arrow in his eye, as I think this is the most important part.
