There are 2 options for guided reading, you can continue with the book and the questions that I will post below or I have found some books to read if you find this too hard. Have a look through, if you would like help with a level or a book to read a day then please email me and I will help.

Guided Reading

LO: To be able to understand how to use inference

SC1: I can identify what inference is

SC2: I can understand what inference can tell me about a text

SC3: I can justify my inferences

Please read the pages attached below and then answer the questions below. Make sure that you justify your answers using the conjunctions because.

I know this because..

This part tells me… because…

  1. Can you infer what is meant by stern, if Harry would not cross this witch?

  2. Can you infer as to why the author does not use the whole word when Hagrid is talking, for example “The firs’-years”?

  3. What else can you infer about the characters other than they were nervous when they went into the side room, why do you think this? What in the text tells you?

  4. What is Harry feeling when they are talking about the sorting hat test? What part of the text tells you that ?

  5. Why did the author use the word doom?

  6. What can ou infer Harry’s thoughts and feelings would be to seeing the ghosts?

  7. J K Rowling repeats herself with the word sitting when referring to the teachers and students. What word would you change? WHy would you use the word you chose instead? Think about the image that word gives

  8. Can you infer as to why Harry thought he had to pull a rabbit out of the Sorting Hat?

LO: To be able to show my understanding of what I have learned
SC1: I can understand how to use imagery
SC2: I can identify how to use dialogue
SC3: I can show my understanding of the text

For this week we will not be learning anything new, as I do not think that we can really do it justice via home learning. So we will be practising what we have learned so far and consolidate what we already know.

This does mean though that I would like you to try and write to the best of your ability. How are you going to show that you care about your work and what you produce.

When you write I would like you to use:

  • Imagery

  • Dialogue

  • Fronted adverbials

I have included some mind maps to help you refresh your memory.

Badgers, my socks are on, let’s knock them off. Show me how well you can write. Show your parents how well you can write.

Today, I would like you to continue the story of Harry Potter from where the reading left off.

What happens next?

Break time/snack time

11:00 – 11:30

Make sure you complete 2 studio sessions and 2 sound checks before going on the garage. Feel free to challenge me!

11:30 – 12:15

LO: To be able to understand how to convert between measurements (KNOW)

SC1: I can identify different measures

SC2: I can understand what it means to convert

SC3: I can understand how to use place value to convert

Today, we are going to convert between different measures. If you have a ruler then you can do it with objects around the house. If not then I have put something together for you to help.

I have uploaded a video to help you with your Maths, have a look, read through the powerpoint, there are questions attached at the bottom. Good luck.
