Maths

L.O. To recall different units of time (remembering)

SC1- I can recall how many seconds are in 1 minute

SC2 – I can recall how many minutes are in 1 hour

SC3 – I can demonstrate a sense of different lengths of time.

Watch today’s video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQR0N9J5OUw

Task 1 - What activities could you do in these times?

Time

Activity

3 seconds

1 minute

15 minutes

20 seconds

1 hour

2 hours

30 minutes

Task 2 – Estimate how long something will take and then ask someone to time you doing it. Were you close?

See the first column for Mrs Jones’ example.

Activity

Estimated time to complete

Actual time taken

Run a length of your garden.

If you don’t have one, run a length of your living room.

20 seconds

5 seconds

20 seconds is actually quite a long time to run. My garden is not that big. I could run 4 lengths in 20 seconds.

Eat your lunch

Note: this is not a race. Please do not rush your lunch as it could be dangerous. It is just to estimate the time it usually takes, and see how close you are to the actual time.

Run a bath

If you only have a shower in your house, you could estimate the time it takes to have a shower.

Change your outfit

Again, this is not a race. It is for you to think about how much time this would normally take if you were going to do this for a reason e.g. changing into mucky clothes for outside play.

Tidy up your bedroom

Complete all the work that you’ve done today, including breaks.

Please complete this row at the end of the day. Estimate how long you think it has taken from start to finish. You should have asked a parent to write down the time you started work today, ask a parent to calculate how long it actually took you and tell you the actual time it has taken. Were you close to your estimate?

2020 – Year of change.

Challenge 5! Wahoo!

Please start by watching the challenge 5 video on the school website. You will find this under the tab “curriculum” and then “2020 year of change”

Now you have watched the video you will know that Mrs Mitchell and Miss Fermor have challenged you to create your own exercise video. We are going to make sure this week we plan how to make our exercise videos thoroughly to ensure our videos are the best they can be so lets start with the 1st step.

Please watch the video tutorial. https://youtu.be/AT7-1DKFfu0

Task 1 – Please can you mind map ideas of what type of exercise you would like to focus on in your home learning books. Once you have come up with at least 6 ideas can you choose your best ideas and write a sentence explaining why you have chosen this idea. Please see my example below.

Task 2 – Now you have decided which type of exercise you are going to choose can you do a separate mind map on all the things you already know about that type of exercise. Watch the video tutorial on how to do this. https://youtu.be/x-d2im3LZ8k

Task 3 – Once you have completed your second mind map please can you write a list of all the things you will still need to find out in order to be able to produce an exercise video in your chosen exercise. E.g how to warm up, different activities you can film relating to your chosen exercise, cool down activities, ways to motivate people. Please see my example below and watch the video tutorial. https://youtu.be/7R_ENrpujYA

Please send a picture of each task to your class teacher, we can’t wait to see what all your fantastic ideas are!

2:30-3:00pm

P.E

Have a go at P.E with Joe Wicks, whist you are completing the exercising think about the types of things he says and how he performs the exercises. This might help you with your exercise video.
