Outdoor challenge – Fun in the snow/cold!

Wrap up really well – it’s going to be extremely cold out there and have fun in the snow!

Here are some suggestions of things you might like to try:

  •     Snow kitchen fun - make ice cream sundaes etc...

  •  pen snow art - draw with felt tip pens in the snow then squirt with water!

  •  Icicle experiment!
  •  step 1 - make blocks of ice in an ice cube tray, yoghurt pots etc.. in your freezer. You could make them colourful  by adding food colouring to the water.
  •  step 2 - stack them into a snow castle on something like a tin lid or baking tray.

  • step 3 - make a small hole in the bottom of a plastic bottle and tie some wool or string coming out of it. You could have several threads attached. Make the string wet. Place the bottle on something high like a window sill or top of a step ladder. Have the string coming down to your ice castle and try to get it to attach by spraying with water. Put water coloured water in the bottle.

  •  step 4 - add water to the top of the bottle as needed. You could add different colours. Top tip - make sure the water isn't too warm as it might melt the icicles that have already formed!
