Our Autumn Term Learning
As part of the accelerated curriculum, we put our usual experiences on hold. Attached is a newsletter of the objectives which were taught. Please see below some photographs of some of our Autumn Term learning.
In September, we learnt about tens and ones and how to represent numbers using different manipulatives. We learnt that every time we have ten ones, we group them to make one ten!
We created a visual hundred square to show how numbers are represented for our classroom.
In English, the children decided to write speeches to Mrs Butler and Mrs Mitchell about something they wanted to change in school...
They decided what they wanted their speech to be about:
They learnt about the features of a speech:
Once their speeches were written and re-drafted, the children learnt about how to communicate effectively when delivering a speech. The children spoke with such confidence; they maintained eye contact, used clear, loud voices and stood up straight! Well done Butterflies!
We have also learnt methods for addition in order to add up our happy marks in school - it was great to see if we had managed to get 50 happy marks for a red rainbow award!
Before the school closure, we started writing our very own version of 'On the Way Home' by Jill Murphy.
Here are some of our first drafts...
On the Way Home by Adam
On the Way Home by Maisie
