Reading challenge

Reading takes us to places we can only imagine and we want you to continue to develop your love of reading over the summer holidays by taking part in our summer reading challenge. Your challenge is to read as many books as you can and to create a vlog about all the books you have read over the summer. Every week we would like you to add to your vlog by summarising and reviewing the books you have read that week.

Of course, as you get older the books you read will get longer so we would like you to follow these guidelines depending on your Key stage:

Early Years (Reception) - 2 picture books a week

Key stage 1 (Year One and Year Two) - 3 picture books a week (minimum, if you are reading chapter books please read 3 chapters)

Key stage 2 (Year Three, Four and Five) A chapter book a week

Below you will find a list of recommended books to read for your year group so please use this as a guideline. If you are struggling to source appropriate books, we will be opening the school library once a week over the summer, details for this will follow at a later date. If you are struggling to source appropriate books, please contact us and we can provide you with books from our school library. Please send your finished vlogs at the end of the summer holidays to Mrs Butler on headteacher@seal.kent.sch.uk. Once we have received all the finished entries we will put everyone's name onto a raffle ticket and the winner drawn for each Key Stage will receive a fantastic book voucher.
