If you are confident with this then you can use the formal written method. I have also added a challenge for those who want to extend themselves.

LO: To be able to group living objects
SC1: I can identify characteristics of a plant
SC2: I can understand what characteristic means
SC3: I can create my own characteristics

For this lesson we are going to group some of the plants in our garden. Have a look at the video below to understand how to characterise plants.

For the afternoon I would like you to do 2 different groupings of plants.

For the first one I would like you to follow what the video talked about and characterise the plants in our garden into the 4 different groups.

  1. Flowering plants

  2. Conifers

  3. Ferns

  4. Mosses

Have a look at my exemplar below to see how I would like it to be set out.

For the second part I would like you to characterise the plants into your own different groups. The groups could be anything you could think of. Your groups could be by the size of the leaf, or how tall the plant grows. Use your imagination and think of the best you can. Agan I have characterized plants into different groups again to show you an example.

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!

2:30-3:15

We are continuing on with our class reader in the afternoons.I have attached the pdf of the book as well as the link to hear Mr Forster read.

After, I would like you to spend time reading your own book. Do it in your bedroom, in the garden or even in the kitchen sink. So long as you are reading.

As well as reading, can you practise some of the songs Miss Cuss is practising with you from the choir. Find the link to the page below.
