9.00 - 10.30
LO: To be able to understand division.
For this lesson we are going to be looking at division so we can finish off our fractions. Division is the process of separating a number into parts. For this lesson you will need small things and lots of them to help us with our concrete learning.
Please find the attached video for your maths learning.
Key concepts –
You always divide the larger number.
Imagine sharing with people and you need to share the larger number between them.
There are chilli challenges attached below, please pick the one you fell comfortable with and resources/manipulatives that can help you.
Chilli challenge 2 does have some very hard numbers, that you may not have enough manipulatives for, can you come up with to try and solve the questions.
10.30 - 11.00
Do something to get some energy out of the children for example Joe Wicks is releasing a work out video every Monday - Friday. Then spend the last 5 minutes getting them calm again. For example is there something they could tidy or draw or sit and read for 5 minutes. It is important they are calm again.
11.00 - 12.00
LO: To understand what a simile is
For this lesson we are going to look at what makes a simile. A simile is a way of describing something using the words 'like' or 'as', for example:
The sun was shining in the sky. It was like a giant lightbulb.
The cat crept as quietly as a mouse.
Similes can help you write amazing poetry. Look out of your window and write down 5 things that you think you could describe really well, then use similes to describe them in as much detail as you can.
12.00 - 1.15
1.15 - 3.00 Make sure you have a break at some point to keep your brain sharp.
Mrs Mitchell will be uploading the video on Monday, but we are going to start it today. The challenge is to look out of your window and write a poem with an accompanying picture.
So in the afternoons we will be focussing on art!
