Maths – Division

Lesson Seven – Division – Thursday 21st May

LO: To be able to create an array when dividing.

SC1. I can explain what an array is.

SC2. I can discuss how an array can help when dividing.

SC3. I can create arrays to support my understanding.

Over the last few lessons, we have been using number lines to help us when dividing a 2-digit number.

Another strategy it to use place value counters and to group them into groups using arrays.

You can also view this video which will also show you how we use arrays when solving division problems. It also introduces you to the idea that division is the inverse of multiplication.

English – Recipe Writing

LO: To understand the features of a recipe

SC1) I can discuss the features of a recipe

SC3) I can look at real like examples of recipes in my house and identify features


As our challenge this week is to do with making a meal, we need to know how to write a recipe the correct way. As before we are going to identifying the features, but this time of a recipe. Watch the video below looking at the features of a recipe:




As I said in the video, Look at the example recipes at the bottom of the page and see if you can identify the features. If this is too tricky, have a discussion with somebody in your house.


Extension – Have a look at the recipes you researched yesterday. Can you find any of the features talked about in the video?





Which idea is the best?

LO: to choose the most appropriate recipe

SC1: I can identify which recipe is healthy and balanced

SC2: I can decide which recipe I can cook

SC3: I can justify why I chose this recipe


Yesterday, you thought about all your possible options of recipes and now you need to choose the one you would like to do. We would like you to choose your best idea and justify your choice. After you have done this, we would like you to write out the ingredients you need and a recipe to follow when you make your meal.


The plan is to put together all of the recipes to make a virtual healthy recipe book. In order for me to make this, the recipes will need to be neatly done and the best they can be. Please can everyone try to hand write this so we have consistency across all of the work

When the adults take a picture of the work, this will need to be a focussed picture in portrait. If possible to scan the work in, this would make the definition even better! They will be put on the celebration page for you to try some over the holidays if you have the ingredients.
