There are 2 options for guided reading, you can continue with the book and the questions that I will post below or I have found some books to read if you find this too hard. Have a look through, if you would like help with a level or a book to read a day then please email me and I will help.

Guided Reading

LO: To be able to understand how to use inference

SC1: I can identify what inference is

SC2: I can understand what inference can tell me about a text

SC3: I can justify my inferences

Please read the pages attached below and then answer the questions below. Make sure that you justify your answers using the conjunctions because.

  1. Why do you think Harry’s first reaction was that it was all a dream? Try to think about Harry’s life so far..

  2. What else does the word scrambled tell you about Harry’s feelings when he got up? 

  3. Why do you think Harry would be so upset about not having any money? 

  4. What can you infer Harry would have thought, if he had thought about the Dursleys when he was leaving them? 

  5. During the whole passage Harry is introduced to a lot of new information. Do you think his thoughts and feelings would have changed during the text? If so why? If not why do you think that? 

  6. At the end of the text, can you give a detailed explanation as to what Harry would be feeling? Why do you think this?

SC2: I can understand the punctuation within dialogue
SC3: I can understand how to use a reported clause


Now that you have edited and revised your writing, now we write it out if full and in neat. Make sure that it is your best presentation, and can you please keep them. I would really love to use some of them for our outcome, so when we are allowed back into school next week, I would like you to bring them in so we can put our story together.

Over the next couple of days I have a challenge for you. We are going to use our knowledge to plan your best Christmas day. 

Today there will be no Maths, that will come tomorrow. Today, I would like you to research on the internet things that would make your Christmas day perfect. What would you want?

  • Presents

  • Decorations

Are just a few ideas.. Can you think of more

Please can you find what you want and the price and note it down for tomorrow when you will be working it out.
