Phonics Your child should start their phonics session by watching a video which introduces a new sound. The video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ?fbclid=IwAR2zPh6YahiI_fOxLD_ikMQES-EWj_l_6L8MYTCYYUYMBv-1DePkw5_7--E. If the link doesn't work try clicking on this link https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/help-during-school-closure/ and then click on either the YouTube link or the Facebook link on the first line. The videos are only streamed at certain times of the day and are set depending. The times are:
(It may be better to do mental maths and problem solving first and come back to phonics, if your video is at a later time) In terms of the reading section of the phonics lesson, Oxford Owl are making all the phonics books available online as ebooks. Here is the link https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-schemes-oxford-levels/read-write-inc-phonics-guide/ Once you’ve clicked on the link then click on ebooks and then you need to register but it is completely free. Once registered you can then open all the ebooks and choose the correct banded level for your child. This means you do not need to look at the RWI books on the school website and we will not be adding any further books there. Guided reading: If your child is not in a phonics group and instead does guided reading, please find newly uploaded texts on the Butterflies home learning page here: https://www.sealprimary.com/page/?title=Home+Learning&pid=470, please find today’s timetable and the text will be there. |

Maths LO: to describe position, direction and movement, including whole, half, quarter and three quarter turns. SC1: I can describe the position of an object. SC2: I can explain what a whole, half and a quarter are. SC3: I can make instructions. Today, we are going to make some treasure maps. But we need to do some learning first! To start with, explain to something where these objects are using your words. Next, can you describe halves and quarters to another person? Remember to use the word equal! One quarter is 1 of 4 equal parts. So, this circle is cut into 4 equal parts. The green shaded part is one quarter.
We can use this language when making instructions. For example, when we are talking about turning. A whole turn, would be turning all the way round, facing back where you started. See if you can have a go turning an object or yourself! Have a look at this power point to help you! https://sites.google.com/kmtraining.org.uk/homelearning/maths Watch this video! https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z2grd2p/articles/zwv6b82 You are going to make some instructions like this, for another member of your family. Choose your treasure and make some directions from one room to another for a member of your family to follow. Did they find the treasure? Can we see your instructions? |

English LO: to plan my letter SC1: I can identify the key features of a letter. SC2: I can plan what I will include in my letter. SC3: I can use exclamation marks in my letter plan. By now you will have decided who you are writing your letter to. We know what our key workers do and so now it’s time to plan our letter. First, we need to think about the key parts of a letter, can you tell an adult the main parts of a letter? Now we are going to use the writing frame to plan what we are going to write in our letter. Remember we can use our mind map of ideas to help us. Remember we are writing a letter to thank your dustmen/women or postman/woman. As well as telling them what you are thankful for, I’m sure they would like to know a little bit about you! You could tell them what you want to be when you’re older. A letter writing frame is attached below as a PDF. Try your best to include 2 exclamation marks in your letter plan. Challenge: Can you use different sentence openers in your letter. There is a word mat attached as a PDF to help you. |
