Guided reading

Today we will be looking at the first part of the Tin Forest and answering some questions. Follow the link below, and please feel free to turn the sound off if you want to read by yourself.



LO: To understand what an expanded noun phrase is.

SC1: I understand how to turn a noun into an expanded noun phrase.

SC2: I can write 5 sentences using expanded noun phrases.

SC3: I can use my mind map to help me

Yesterday we created a mind map of what we could see from the window. Today, we are going to use these words to create some expanded noun phrases. Please follow the links below- as yesterday, watch number 1 first! (part 1) (part 2)

Make sure you complete 2 studio sessions and 2 sound checks before going on the garage. Feel free to challenge me!

11:30 – 12:15

LO: To be able to identify fractions of amounts
SC1: I can understand what the numerator and the denominator are
SC2: I can use times tables
SC3: I can use manipulatives to help

Right, on to finishing our fractions. Now we have recapped how to divide, we can look at finding fractions of amounts. 

In the video I have found the person uses crosses to help him. However, you can use pasta like when we were dividing.

Have a go at the chilli challenges below and see how you get on. If you find it too hard or easy you can change.

1:15 - 2:00

LO: To be able to use drawing techniques
SC1: I can identify different techniques
SC2: I can persevere when drawing
SC3: I can justify why I used one technique

Not all of use may have a garden to look out on, so I have found a video of drawing a car. If your place faces the road this may be one of the things that you see when you look out of the window. So I have found a video of how to draw a car.

Have a go, but I would like you to add shadow to it as well. Using the colouring techniques and tone we learned about last week. 

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!
