Good morning everyone! 

We loved seeing the learning you did last week and can’t wait to see what brilliant learning you do today! 






The phonics session is made up of two parts.  

The first is the speed sound session. Please select the video appropriate to your child’s level (this was emailed to you): 


Set 1: (sh) 

Set 2: (air) 

Set 3: (au) 

Log into the Oxford Owl website and find the correct coloured book for your child. Your child should read the book 3 times before moving on, so that they become increasingly confident.

If you are in guided reading, please read the first chapter of The Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith and answer the questions in full sentences.  We look forward to reading your answers.

LO: to understand how to count in 2s (remembering). 

SC1: I know that a pair is 2 items that match. 

SC2: I can identify items that come in pairs.  

SC3: I can count in 2s.

Task 1 (10:14 minutes in the video) - collect up lots of pairs in your home.  


For task 1 you will need:  

  • Lots of pairs (socks, shoes, gloves) 


Task 2 (10:30 minutes in the video) - use the pairs to count to 20 in 2s.  


Challenge: can you count in 2s further than 20? How far can you go? 


For task 2 you will need:  

  • The pairs you have collected

We are going to start practising our cursive handwriting! 

Today we are going to practise are curly letters. Please look at the PDF attached, and practise:

Innovate the text 

LO: to develop character descriptions 

SC1: I can create my own characters. 

SC2: I can use adjectives to describe my characters. 

SC3: I can innovate the model text to create my own story.

Task: Change our story map to write our own Introduction and Build-up. 


You will need: 

  • Pencil and paper 

  • Story map 

  • Model Text pfd 


Challenge: Can you add in a setting description?

LO: to understand the key changes from the toys of the past

SC2: I can explain the key changes 

SC3: I can explain the impact of those key changes.
