Over the next few weeks, we will be starting a home learning experience involving History and English. We will be learning about the Romans and how they lived as well as prepositions for our English learning. At the end of the second week, we will be writing a diary entry as a Roman soldier using accurate historical facts and prepositions in our diary entry.

Once you have confirmed your login on your email it will direct you to a page that says “Find a book” Please click on that and then follow the instructions below.

Click on e-books and find your relevant book colour to read. (the colour of your home reading books) Please read the same book 3 times.

1st day – read to decode the words and make sure you can read every word in the book.

2nd day – read the book again and try to read with fluency and expression.

3rd day – read the book again and answer the comprehension questions at the end.

Today we will be looking at something slightly different in maths during our time in home learning. We are going to be looking at shape. Please watch the video below regarding shape.

Task 1 - Use a piece of paper like I have done to locate right angles in your house.

What did you find that had a right angle?

What did you notice?

Why do you think many things are made using right anglers?

 

Task 2 – Look at the shapes attached at the bottom of the page. Can you locate the right angles in these shapes? (Answers in the same attachment on the next page)

History –

 

LO: To know when and where the Roman Empire began.

 

SC1) I can state where the Roman Empire originated.

SC2) I can state when the Roman Empire originated.

SC3)I can recall the story of the founding of Rome.

 

Activity 1:

If you have access to the internet, please use google maps to research the location of city of Rome, or look at pictures on google images of Rome. If you have an atlas, you could use this.

 

This is where the Roman Empire started.  Historians believe that Rome was founded in 753BC. BC means before Christ (before the Christian era).

Activity 2:

Read the story attached of Romulus and Remus as to how the founding of Rome happened and how the Roman Empire started.

 

 

 

 

Activity 3:

Can you write a summary of the Legend of Romulus and Remus from the video that you have just watched?

You can either write this summary as:

- Bullet points

-A paragraph

 

Remember, a summary is a shortened version of the story, in your own words.
