There are 2 options for guided reading.

You can read a section from our new book and answer the questions that I will

post below. I have recorded a video of me reading the text and asking the

questions but please only use this if you are unable to read the text

independently.

or

If you find the task above too challenging, I have found some books to read.

Have a look through, if you would like help with a level or a book to read a day

Today is the first lesson of our home learning experience. We always start our

experiences with a title page and that is what we will be doing today. You will

need plain paper and writing equipment for this, just as we would in class, you

will be able to use coloured pens/ pencils as well.

I have recorded myself creating the title page with explanations to guide you

through the process. Please watch the video and pause when you need to as

you create your title page.

When your title page is finished, I would like you to find good examples of how

other authors have described characters in books you enjoy reading.

Please send me photos of your title page and character descriptions from other

authors which you have found.

with larger numbers. You have all performed really well within maths up to this

point so I do not see this taking very long.

Please have a look at the video below to see a tutorial for the lesson. There

are questions added at the bottom of the page with reasoning questions as well.

Please complete at least 8 questions before you check if they are correct, using

a calculator. If they are you can move onto the reasoning questions. If they are

wrong then have another look at the video and try some of the other questions.

There is also a worked example which you can look at to help or re-watch the

video if you need to.

LO: To be able to know who the vikings were
SC1: I can know when the vikings existed
SC2: I can know where the vikings came from
SC3: I can understand how to research the vikings
SC4: I can present my information clearly

To start off our home learning experience, we are going to learn about the

Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. We will be looking at them as a people, how

they lived. What they did and how they shaped the England that we know

today, even though they lived such a long time ago.

To start off with, I would like you to research the Vikings. Can you find answers

to some questions and anything else that you find interesting about them.

The questions I would like you to research and find answer to are:

  1. When did the Vikings live?

  2. Who were the Vikings?

  3. What interesting facts can you find about the Vikings?

I would like you to present your information in a mind map, you have done

dozens of these in your time at Seal, have a look at mine to see a model of

what it should be like.

I have included some websites that you may find helpful to use.
