Phonics 

The phonics session is made up of two parts.  

The first is the speed sound session. Please select the video appropriate to your child’s level (this was emailed to you):

Log into the Oxford Owl website and find the correct coloured book for your child. Your child should read the book 3 times before moving on, so that they become increasingly confident.

Tasks:  

Task 1 (in the video at 11:45 minutes): use Didax to show the numbers using dienes. 

 

For Task 1 you will need:  

 

Task 2 (in the video at 12:14 minutes): we are going to partition numbers 50-100. It is your choice whether you use a tens and ones frame or cherry models.

  • Tens and one frame PDF or cherry models PDF 

  • A pencil

  1. Say the word. Write the word in pen or pencil. Say each letter out loud as you write it. Then, say the word again 

  1. Say the word. Trace over the word with a colour. Say each letter out loud as you trace it. Then, say the word again.  

  1. Repeat Step 3 with your other two favourite colouring.
