LO: To understand the features of a poster.

SC1: I can state the purpose of a poster.
SC2: I can recall the features of a poster.
SC3: I can discuss the features.

Today we are looking at the features of a poster.

Task 1: Please watch the video which explains the task, it tells you when to pause the video and take notes, like we do in our journal.

Task 2: Main activity:

See attached document called ‘English MILD task’ and label the features.

If you do not have a printer then you can write down in sentences where the features are using these sentence stems:

The title is=

The image is=

The subheadings are=

The small paragraphs (tell me where they are)=

Complete the mild activity AND write underneath each feature why it is effective in this particular poster.

See attached document entitles ‘English HOT task’ and compare each feature between the two posters, which poster uses the features best and why?

Use these sentence stems to help you:

Poster ….uses a title better because……..

Poster ….uses a better use of image because……..

Poster ….uses better subtitles because…….

Poster ….has better paragraphs because……..

Begin to use your own examples of these features:

Use these features to create a poster about the impact of littering in the oceans.

LO: To understand the parts of a plant.

SC1: I can state what a plant is.

SC2: I can research parts of a plant.

SC3: I can research the functions of parts of a plant.

Today, you are going to be researching some parts of the flower. Please use the following websites and videos to research these parts of a flower and what these parts of the flower do (what is their purpose?) You only need to research the following parts:

- Sepal

- Ovary

- Style

- Filement

- Anther

- Petal (video on parts of the flower) (video on parts of the flower) (scroll down to the separate parts of the flower) (the top of this page has the functions)

(find the parts listed above on this webpage)

You can make notes however you like, you could hand write it all, print some research or create a word/powerpoint. Tomorrow, you will be researching other parts of a flower.

This research will feed into a poster that you will create about the parts of a plant.

Research more areas of the plant and think about the links between areas of the plant, how do they link together?
