Guided Reading

LO: To develop inference skills

SC1: I can read an unfamiliar text

SC2: I can make inferences from the text (dig deeper)

SC3: I can answer questions clearly 


Here is the link to today’s guided reading on inference. The questions today are not as clear- so you’ll need to think really carefully about what the text says.






LO: To plan a piece of explanation writing

SC1: I can research the life cycle of a plant

SC2: I can create a mind map to present my ideas

SC3: I can present my learning in a clear and organised way.


Here is the link to today’s English, where we are going to plan a piece of explanation writing on the life cycle of a plant. This is the ‘know’ part of our process- what do I know? How can I find out more? I am expecting amazing mind maps year 4!

11:30 – 12:15

SC2: I can understand the importance of place value
SC3: I can use manipulatives to help 

For this lesson we are going to move on to multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. If you need some help recapping the previous lessons have a look back at the last couple of days. 

For the new learning today look through this video and answer the questions below.




12:15- 1:15


1:15 - 2:00

LO: To be able to understand to process of pollination
SC1: I can explain the meaning of pollination
SC2: I can identify why plants use pollen
SC3: I can how insects help pollination

For this lesson we are going to be learning about the process of pollination. I have found a video that explains the process. 




I would like you to use the literary devices you have been learning in Literacy and create a non-fiction piece of writing about what you have learned about plants.

I have attached an exemplar below to help you see the standard I would like from you. 

2:00- 2:30

Exercise – e.g. mindfulness yoga, fresh air in the garden, run up and down the stairs seeing if you can get faster every time!


We are continuing on with our class reader in the afternoons.. I have attached the pdf of the book as well as the link to hear Mr Forster read. 



After, I would like you to spend time reading your own book. Do it in your bedroom, in the garden or even in the kitchen sink. So long as you are reading.
