  1. On page 44, can you infer what Julian means when he says “Honestly, I believe anyone could light a cigarette from the sparks that fly from our eyes”? Can you explain why you think this. 

  2. Can you infer what Julain is thinking when George says she wants to take him to the island on page 46? What phrase tells you this? 

  3. Can you find the phrase that tells you George’s mother is upset on page 47? 

  4. On page 50, what else do you think the children might be feeling when they row out to the island? Explain your reasons. 

  5. On page 51, what phrases can you find to tell you the children are excited to explore the island?

Last day of Fronted adverbials, I have really enjoyed seeing your stories. We will change up what we have to put in them tomorrow. 

If you would like to recap Fronted adverbials again, then please have a look at the instructional video from yesterday. 

Today, I would like you to continue the story. The children have just got to Kirrin Island? What is going to happen… Remember, the name of the book is “Five on a Treasure Island”! How can this influence your writing. 

I have included a checklist and a guided write to help you if you would like it. You are more than welcome to magpie ideas, but don’t copy too much, I would like as much of your work as possible.

After, I would like you to spend time reading your own book. Do it in your bedroom, in the garden or even in the kitchen sink. So long as you are reading.
