I hope you are having a great week.

Thank you for all the work you have sent so far, it has been brilliant-have a look at our celebration page to see how other Kingfishers are doing with challenge 3. If you haven't already sent me your work please do so as I'd love to see it and give you feedback. 

Today we will be looking at different artists and different techniques and you will be producing more art work. All the resources and the timetable for today are below and on the tabs on the left. 

There is also story time at the end of the day-are you enjoying the story?

Challenge 3

 

L.O: I can understand how different artists use different styles and techniques

Success criteria: (know: understanding)

1)      I can understand different styles artists use

2)      I can compare and contrast different artists’ styles of work

3)      I can evaluate different styles of art

 

Task:

To help with your art challenge, today we are going to explore different artists who have different styles of art work. I have chosen David Hockney and Georges Seurat as the artists however if you would like to choose two different artists you can.

Read through the PowerPoints on both artists and look at the video resources provided. In your book:

1)      Summarise the different styles of both artists

2)      Do they have any similarities in their art work?

3)      What are the main differences in their art work?

4)      What do you think of their style of art work? Why?

5)      How could you apply the techniques that they use to your art work for challenge 3? 

 

Remember to consider your layout and presentation

Maths- L.O. To find equivalent fractions (applying)

 

SC1: I can multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number.

SC2: I can divide the numerator and denominator by the same number.

SC3: I can work out what a numerator and denominator have been multiplied/divided by to complete an equivalent fraction.

 

Please watch the video tutorial for today. Complete the task set as explained in the tutorial. Please choose a challenge that you feel comfortable with from challenge 1-3 (challenge 3 being the most challenging). The answers are on there as well so that you can self-mark once you have finished. If you have made a mistake, check through it and see where you went wrong. Please don't look at the answers until you have finished.

1:15-2:00

L.O: I can understand and apply different art techniques (know: understand)

Success criteria:

1)      I understand different techniques used to add shade

2)      I understand how to create pointillism

3)      I can the techniques I have used

 

Task:

1)      Watch the video ‘Pointillism techniques’ and have a try at using this technique, you could try it to create a simple object (like an apple) or try it on part of your view.

2)      Look at the PowerPoint ‘Tonal shading presentation’ and have a try at practising shading techniques.

 

2:00-2:45

L.O: I can record my observations using the style of a specific artist

(show: applying)

Success criteria:

1)      I can use a specific style in my art work

2)      I can experiment with different techniques

3)      I can evaluate my art work

 

Task-To create your third draft of your art work using a specific style.

Observe your view from your chosen window carefully. Select one of the artists you studied earlier and use their style (for example Pointillism) to re-create the view from the window.

 

Evaluation: How did you feel using a specific style of art? Why? What worked well? What would you do differently next time? Why?
