LO: To apply my knowledge of expanded noun phrases.

SC1. I can plan the next part of a setting description.

SC2. I can use precise language when choosing my expanded noun phrases.

SC3. I can develop a setting description.

Over the last few days, we have recapped using expanded noun phrases and we have looked at how using precise language can allow you convey information clearly and concisely. Today, we are going to use our knowledge to help continue a setting description.

Task One

Recap the setting description from today’s guided reading lesson. As you are doing this, I want you to start to think about where you can take the setting description next. Write down key vocabulary and any key points form the text which you may wish to develop.

Task Two

Watch today’s video, where I model how to plan and write my own setting description.

If you need additional support with planning out your sentence structure, please watch recap your understanding by watching the "A bit more help" videos from Monday and Tuesday.

Task Three

Use your notes form guided reading to help you plan out your own setting description of the Crystal Forest. When describing your setting you can focus on:

Plants, animals and the even the weather

NOTE: If you are struggling for inspiration, it may be a good idea to draw and label your own Crystal Forest. This can then be used to help with your plan.

I HAVE ATTACHED A POWERPOINT WHICH INCLUDES LOTS OF CRYSTAL FOREST IMAGES TO INSPIRE YOU.

Task Four

Use your plan, the checklist I have provided and the word mats to help you write the next part of the setting description. Remember, that your focus is on using precise vocabulary in your expanded noun phrases. The aim is to convey information to the reader in a concise and clear manner.
