Winter is looming...
During this experience, the children have been learning how to weave. We have learnt the techniques of tabby weaving, knotting and looping. The children have been using a variety of colours to create a woven book mark.
Hook:
Paper weaving. We spent the afternoon learning about the concept of weaving in preparation for using wool. The children made their own paper weaving examples and practised the over-under technique.
Outcome:
The children made bookmarks which they could then take home and use when they are reading or give them away as a gift. You can see some pictures of our weaving below.
Discrete Experiences
English - The Lighthouse. We watched a video called The Lighthouse. It's a about a grumpy lighthouse keeper who has to deal with a lighthouse emergency. We then used this video stimulus to write our own narratives, focussing on developing characters, settings and plots and including lots of expanded noun phrases.
