What are we learning this term?

Main Experiences

Feeling Resourceful - This term we are combining geography and English to learn about the importance of resources we use. We will be writing a persuasive letter to Marks & Spencer, recommending how they can improve their policy to become greener. Please see below the launch page for further information.

Who Let the Sheep Out? - In this Science experience, the children will be investigating the forces behind the gates at the farm and having a board meeting with members of the Farm team and Site team to discuss the most effective locking and hinge mechanisms to use to protect the children and the animals.

Discrete Experiences

English - We will be focussing on persuasive writing, considering features such as flattery, modal verbs, adverbs of possibility, rhetorical questions and how to use these to have the greatest impact on the reader.

Reading - We are reading the story, 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. We are practising inference and prediction skills.

Maths - In term 3 we have looked at area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes as well as scaling by whole numbers and fractions. We are now looking at multiplying and dividing decimals by whole numbers and fractions. Please see our current launch page below.

PE - This term our PE focus is swimming.

RE - In RE we are focusing on 'People of God', understanding stories from the Bible and the stories of Moses and the Ten Plagues. Children will consider feelings of justice and injustice and compare this in their lives and the life of Moses. Please see our current launch page below.

Wellbeing - This term's wellbeing focus is focused on CBT and thinking errors. Children are investigating what thinking errors are, which ones they are likely to experience and how they can overcome them.

How can you support at home?

Please talk to your child about their learning. Key knowledge that the children need to know is detailed on the launch pages below.

Homework: This is set on a Friday after school and is due on the following Wednesday. This includes spellings, times tables, a quiz and maths.

Reading books: Please bring your journals and books to school on a Tuesday or Friday so your book can be changed.
